Terms of service

These terms cover your use of Hauli — the contractor dashboard, the driver app and this website. Please read them with our privacy policy, which explains how personal data is handled.

Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Hauli Ltd. (“Hauli”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Hauli you agree to them. If you use Hauli for a company, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for that company, and “you” includes the company.

The service

Hauli helps construction and hauling companies (“contractors”) run hauling jobs with the truck drivers who work them (“drivers”). Contractors use the web dashboard to create jobs, share them with drivers and assign their work, follow trucks on a live map, review load tickets and see job statistics. Drivers use the mobile app to join jobs, share their location while they work, confirm each load, and sign a load ticket when their work on a job is done.

Hauli is a record-keeping and coordination tool. It is not a party to the work arrangement between a contractor and a driver, it is not a driver’s employer, and in its current version it does not process or guarantee any payment.

Accounts

  • Give accurate details and keep them up to date. New accounts must verify their email address.
  • An account is for one person. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at support@gohauli.ca if you think someone else has used it.
  • The owner of a company account decides who joins its team and at what access level, and is responsible for its members’ use of Hauli.
  • You must be at least 18 to use Hauli.

If you are a contractor

  • Tell your drivers about tracking. Hauli shows you a driver’s live location while they work your jobs. You are responsible for having a lawful basis for that, and for telling your drivers how you use their location and job records. This includes following the privacy and employment laws that apply to you, and getting any consent from your drivers that those laws require.
  • Your job data is yours to get right. Addresses, materials, load counts, rates and assignments are entered by you. Earnings shown in Hauli are calculated from the rates and assignments you set; paying drivers is between you and them.
  • Choose your retention window. You choose how long raw driver location is kept (from 24 hours to 90 days; 30 days by default). Choose the shortest period that meets your needs.

If you are a driver

  • Safety first. Do not use the app while driving. Confirm loads, clock in or out and sign tickets only when you are safely stopped. Always follow traffic laws and site rules.
  • Location. While you work an active job, the app shares your location with the contractor running it, including in the background. It stops when you clock out, finish your work on the job or sign out. You can withdraw location permission at any time, but you will not be able to work a job without it.
  • Confirm honestly. Confirm a load only when you have actually completed it, and sign a ticket only if it is correct.
  • Your work arrangement — pay, hours, conditions — is between you and the contractor, not with Hauli.

Load tickets and records

A load ticket is generated from what was recorded in Hauli — the loads confirmed, the times and the driver’s signature. Contractors can raise a dispute against a ticket. Hauli records disputes and their outcome but does not decide them; resolving a disagreement is between the contractor and the driver.

Hauli records are only as accurate as the information entered and the phone’s location signal. They are not a substitute for any record the law requires you to keep yourself.

Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use Hauli for anything unlawful, or to track anyone without a lawful basis;
  • enter false loads, signatures, locations or records;
  • try to access accounts or data that are not yours, or get around Hauli’s security or access rules;
  • copy, scrape, reverse engineer or overload the service, except as the law allows; or
  • resell or give others access to Hauli without our agreement.

Your data

You keep your rights in the information you put into Hauli. You let us host, copy and process it only to run, secure and improve the service for you, as described in the privacy policy.

Job records are shared between the contractor and the drivers who worked the job. If a driver deletes their account, the contractor keeps its business records of that work, with the driver’s name kept only as text — see Delete your account.

Fees

Hauli is currently free of charge. If we introduce paid plans, we will tell you at least 30 days before any charge applies, and you will not be charged unless you choose a paid plan.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Hauli available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free — it relies on mobile networks, phone location services and third-party providers. We may change, add or remove features, and we will give reasonable notice of changes that significantly affect you.

Ending your use

You can stop using Hauli and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users or the service at risk, and will tell you why unless the law or safety prevents it.

Disclaimers and liability

Hauli is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to keep it accurate and running, but we do not promise that it will be free of errors or always available.

To the extent the law allows, Hauli Ltd. is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the greater of the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and CAD $100.

If you use Hauli for a company, the company will cover our losses from claims caused by its breach of these terms or its misuse of Hauli.

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario, unless the law of the province where you are based gives you the right to bring them there. Nothing in these terms takes away protections you have under the laws of your own province.

Before going to court, please email info@gohauli.ca so we can try to resolve the problem with you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app, on the dashboard or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Hauli after that means you accept the new terms.
